What this report covers, and what it does not

In scope. Fermentation-derived protein, both biomass and precision. Novel plant-based protein, where a new formulation of an established input counts only if the crop is available locally at mass scale, and a genuinely novel source must pass the same filter. Cultivated meat, on a future-feasibility basis only, since Vietnam has no existing players. Crop and feedstock scouting, local crops first, with imported inputs not ruled out where there is a financial or food-security reason for them. Regulatory and incentive review. The regional landscape, with the aim of naming specific partners a Vietnamese actor could use rather than profiling countries.

Out of scope. Established alternative protein categories with no meaningful research novelty. Insect protein. Consumer sentiment, demand generation and any recommendation about the consumer end. Domestic or export market size forecasting. Retail and foodservice. The focus is the step from raw material to agricultural or food commodity, with the step from food commodity to packaged consumer product treated as secondary.

One consequence worth stating early. Because the demand side is out of scope, this report cannot say whether Vietnamese consumers would buy any of these products. It can only say what could be made here, at what cost, and what stands in the way.
